Yes, since it's dark, I can get the pics per Stan's request and save connections for reinstall later. I'll pull car out of garage tomorrow to get access to CE panel and unplug all the interior lights, check the horn.

Is there a way to make pics smaller in Rennlist tool? Pics size is smaller than Rennlist limit. Thanks.

Not that I know of with the Rennlist tool. I did it from my camera before the kids left it out in the rain, and/or my photo application. I still have trouble with it sometimes.
Hang in there with the electrics - some issues you mentioned are inter-related - step by step logical process of deduction will always get you there with electrical issues.

There should be one more roof light in the upper hatch...

What you have shown so far look OK.

Fuse #24 also feeds tha hatch releases

the lamp in the second picture needs to be swapped to a new location or replaced. its melted at the two wire contacts try getting the VW Jetta lamps with the wire harnesses
BRB

Here is what you need the two center lamps will fit the roof, they also have the important harnesses that makes installation a breeze.

you will need one more lamps like the ones in the center.

NOTE the two lamps on either end are too small so may be discarded.

Found the rear top hatch dome light disintegrated, install fuse 24 so it fixed the rear power hatch, PRND234 light on cluster, the rest of interior lights, backup light (my kids said back up didn't work before), digital clock, power mirror-all are working but still minor issues so I'll address that later.

Odd thing is all dome light always on regardless of position (door close /open) unless switch is off. The red door light on both side is always on. I push the switch in door jamb but still on.any ideas?

The mirror switch on goes up/down on driver side, no other function work on both doors. Bad switch? Thanks to Stan and Alan's help, great progress.

Remove the brown/white wire from the bottom of the hatch receiver - this is the hatch pin switch.

Got it- disconnected the 2pin connector by the trunk release to turn off red light on door when closed. Thanks.

I'll check horn relay and doorlock tomorrow. Great progress just because of that broken dome light.

Likely the hatch pin switch us just broken, you can replace it... Otherwise it's a hatch alignment issue (unlikely)

Pardon my ignorance, is this pin switch like the door? I can't find it. I thought the light switch comes from the latch release mechanism somehow and that's why I disconnected the 2 pin from there.

The hatch release works but it won't open, had to use the key. Is it because the plastic surround is worn ? Thanks.

The hatch pin switch is under the hatch receiver -the spring that pushes the hatch latch up is part of this switch. The switch is a fully visible type - once you get to it (protection plate) you can see all it's parts...

see many previous threads about hatch & alignment etc issues...

one thing to consider is to get some heat shrink and add a piece to every wire lead to every light this may prevent the wire from shorting out on another wire as you have seen the original lamps can crumble and or melt thats when the wires will come off.

To see if the red lights go out roll down the windows then close the doors you will be able to see the light on they should go off within 20 seconds of door closing.

Please consider swapping the roof lamps for the VW lamps I sent you a link to.
The factory lamps are junk.

Also consider swapping the incandescent bulbs for LEDS

Went to a junkyard this morning to look at the VW hatch actuators and got the push and pull style ($6 each) to update the hatch release. I'll check alignment and add zip tie per Alan's tip in another thread before replacing with the VW. The mechanism looks fine and the plastic guide is new.

I ordered the VW dome light on Ebay but also look for these while I was at the yard but not same style. When I removed the broken light housing, the heat shrink on the connectors fell apart so I fixed that with new heat shrink tubing.

The red light does go off when I push the door switch. I'll look at the hatch pin switch when I work on the hatch alignment to get the hatch to open with power.

I have spare led bulbs from my BMW for the Porsche but the color is cool white which I don't like too much, may look for warm white instead.

Once these are done, next is the power door lock not working. it's also fuse 24 which is fine now? Thanks for all the help. I am making great progress just because of a stupid broken interior light. I've been looking at schematic last 2-3 weeks trying to figure these problems.

The clock wiring looks original. It works now since I fixed the circuit on fuse 24. From the schematic, clock goes to fuse 24 and another wire goes to hazard switch , which is working also.

The only thing is it display 24 mode, military - is there a fix to 12 hrs? Thx.
