Default $15 THOUSAND dollars? I want what he's smoking

Like most of us, when we see a 928 we need to stop and check it out.

I'm tootling through this no-name town in S KS and in a lot on the side of the highway see what looked like a 928. So, decide to stop have a look and a chat. I get to the car, and it's an early 86, red over brown cloth, dents in the left rear, some cancer below the quarter windows, interior is sun faded, cracked, and warped, some bits missing, tires are worn, and cracked some, and I'm thinking maybe I can pick this up and save it. My weakness is red cars.

So, I call the number on the window, and guessing I'm gonna have to talk this guy a bit, and after he answers I ask about the Porsche, and he says: "Fifteen thousand and that's it".

Well, that was a nice, short sweet conversation. It'll be parting out in a few years. What a tool.

I actually got my car (red early 86 actually) from Kansas as well. He was trying to sell it for the high teens and had no luck for a couple of years so he put it on eBay. I ended up sniping the car for much less than he wanted and it was in rather awesome condition when I finally picked it up. I think the problem is people think a porsche is still a porsche and want to make that $$$ of them.
