Default Parking light/ front side marker light

The PO. made sure the car has some electrical problems. He really played a part in f.cking up the wiring. My parking light and front side marker light don't work together. In the current flow diagram it says there should be a 4 pole connector near the left parking light and near the right parking light. Does anybody have an idea where "near" should be. Taking out the parking light didn't show the connector. Anybody has a pic of these?
Thanx 4 helping out.

You have to remove the wheel & the splash shield, then you will be able to see it mounted to the frame rail. The connectors are actually in-line versions but there is a clip to secure both sides together & to the frame rail.

However on a ROW/Euro car the front/side does not have a marker - it's just a turn signal. Only USA cars have markers there (actually different location - in front of the wheel on USA cars).

Thanx Alan. I'm working with an American current flow diagram. The difference between American and European lights is confusing so it's a bit trial and error

If it works OK as just a turn signal then it is functioning normally for a ROW car.

I think everything is and was functioning . I was confused with the diagram and wiring. Full explanation why I got confused and some more questions will come tomorrow. Thanx again for the advice.

First of all here’s some pics of the working lights with different switches on and off.

What was confusing me was the dim light that the parking light produces and the position of the fog lights and high beam. I’d expected that the fog lights would be closest to the license plate. Why I don’t know What added to the confusion was the electrical wiring diagram where in track 22 and 25 there’s parallel lights and there’s a parallel connection in the light itself.

I was also measuring a current between the yellow/green wire from the fog light and the blue wire from the parking light with the switch in the off position. (In Europe a yellow/green wire is used as a wire for the in house earthing system and therefore can’t be used to connect current to a light)
Anyway, the frontside seems to work fine now and my brain is no longer confused.
The rear fog light doesn’t work however and it’s not mentioned in the current flow diagram. Possibly because American cars don’t have this fog light. So tips on this are welcome.

When turning on the ignition all indicator lights work as the should except the parking light indicator, it does not illuminate. When turning on the parking light the indicator works fine but when I turn on the head lights it goes out. What could be causing this?

The "Parking Light" indicator on the dash is only on in Position 1.

In Position 2 you have the two big "headlights on" indicators out near the front bumper, so the light on the dash isn't lit anymore.

As far as I can tell, the pics you post show correct operation in all aspects.

Rear Fog light will only come on if the front fogs are turned on. Try it with the lights on as shown in the last 2 pics (either position 1 or 2 with fogs on).

If you have headlights in position 2 with high beams and fog lights turned on you should have both aux high beams AND foglights on - you didn't show this case but assume that is what we would see (BTW this is not a USA behaviour where only one of these will ever be on).

The dash indicator is designed to show you that you have marker lights only on. It serves 2 purposes - you know you have marker lights on (which is otherwise hard to tell visually from in the cabin) and it also tells you you do not have headlights on. It is assumed that when the headlights are on you will be able to tell from: 1) The illumination on the road 2) The headlamp 'tell tale' nipples on top

Yes the rear fog requires front fogs to be on - it also has a fuse...

ROW cars have the foglights in the outboard location (where they should be: for wide pattern side throw and for corner marking for visibility to other cars) only in the USA & Japan are they placed in board where their function is directly compromised (the dumbass DOT strikes again! - deliberately making it worse...)

Porsche wiring colors have no relation to Euro countries primary AC supply wiring - ALL grounds on your Porsche in normal wiring will be Brown. Other frequently used meaningful colors are Red - battery supply, Black - usually ignition supply, Black/Yellow - accessory supply. Brown with stripe some kind of switched ground, Red with stripe - some kind of switched battery supply.

So far everything seems normal for a ROW car.

Thanx guy's.

It does make sense that the headlights need no indication
It's been so long that I've driven this car at night that I either forgot about the indicator or never noticed it before.
I'll look at the rear fog light asap and then also try switch position 2 with high beam and fog lights, but I assume that 'll work.
