Default odometer/trip

Reset the trip meter, which i do after each gas fill because of a balky fuel guage, and since then the odometer and trip meter have quit working. I also notice that when i push the reset button now, the amp guage dips. Weird. Seems like it must be electrical but the guage sure looks mechanical. Is there a dedicated fuse or something for the odometer?
Thanks for any suggestions
87 euro model.

The rest button is an illuminated electrical switch. If I remember, it activates a small relay which actuates the armature to reset the gear.

Thanks....sounds like it could be a mechanical gear issue and an electrical glitch to cause the amps to dip....there is no noise like you would expect from stripped gears.

Usually the gear gets 'crumbly' after years of service. Never push the reset button while the car in motion.

Odometer gear failure is not very common on the later models.

Could be something else.

It's really not that difficult.

There are a few really good tutorials with pictures in the archives that will walk you through the process.
