Keep track of your oil consumption while driving it - a known (but variable) issue with these cars.

Well the car was from Japan and I bought it from a good dealer I know in Dubai. All the details are in Japanese. Once I have the car I will take a note of that. Thanks

The real question is whether you have anyone up in Bahrain capable of looking after it for you. you really need someone who knows these cars to look after them. I have seen some real basket cases here when worked on by experts who knew nothing about 928's. Even the main dealers only have one or two chaps who know the 928 now and when I need a job doing I cannot handle myself due to limited faiclities or the summer heat there is only 1 mechanic I allow to work on my car.

Good luck

Fred
Yes the car is still in Dubai...I just have been busy and not shipped it to Bahrain yet. I don't mind of someone want to check it out. I did find two mechanics, one who has worked on 928 in Bahrain and he is good and the other who worked for McLaren F1 team...he now works as a private mechanic for a collector. I happen to get access to him and he's from UK and has worked on several cars. If he's worked on F1 cars in a team, them I am sure he can manage my 928. Trial and error. So far I have gather oil consumptions, fuels lines, and relay...along with what I am getting (tuning kit and timing belt). I am worried about the timing belt for now. As soon as the F1 mechanic takes a look at it, then I will find out more. I hope all is well.

If you post the VIN (either here or in the "VIN Check" thread) then they can tell you where it was delivered and what options it originally had.

I haven't seen anyone suggest checking/replacing the fuel lines. That is something to seriously consider. If one lets go, you will end up with a "Carbecue" in a heartbeat. Too many cars have been lost this way.

I will also second the suggestion to find a real 928 mechanic. These cars have enough unique and unusual things that even a factory trained Porsche mechanic won't know what he's doing if he hasn't been specifically trained on the 928.

Welcome to the best place for info and knowledge about these wonderful cars!
You have a gorgeous one.

Thanks for all the advice. I will add your request to the list I need to check. Hopefully the F1 mechanic is good I'll add the VIN picture so that I can learn more about the car. The problem with getting the cars in the region is the lack if history. But luckily the dealer I got it from loves his reputation more than his profit.

Though this GTS is probably a manual transmission, I haven't seen that reported in the thread. If it is an auto there is another important matter that needs to be evaluated.

So it is an auto.
Have whoever is going to do your work, do a crankshaft endplay evaluation.

The options indicate left hand seat lumbar, but it only has two switches, so that must be in error. Also, the H4 headlights may need to be changed if they are still the 'left hand traffic' type.

Beautiful car, and I know you will enjoy it once you get it fully serviced. I 'second' the need for having the thrust bearing end play checked. Having that within specification is very important.

Best wishes, and congratulations.

Yes, good catch, lumbar is the third/rear-most switch on the side of the seat, as shown in Gary's avatar.

BTW, probably discussed elsewhere, but what does "comfort seat" mean exactly? Isn't it just Porsche's way to say not the "sport seat", at least for USA spec?

Couldn't resist the opportunity of utilizing Roger's knowledge on such matters.
