Default Cam seal caps and arms question

I am putting the engine back together and just installed the end bridges with the cam seals and caps(plugs with the nipple). The arms that look as though they hold the caps in against the oil pressure and secure themselves over the nipple of the cap are not actually touching the caps. There is maybe a mill or two between them and I dont know what to think of that. I cant remember if they were touching when I pulled it apart so I wanted to ask the board. All six are this way. I installed the caps before final torquing so I know they are fully seated and maybe they are not suppose to be...? The arms are correctly installed as well same as they were removed...

Some advice would be great since I dont want to go further and have to come back.

Thank you!

If you are using original rubber plugs with metal rod insered into them don't. You need GTS full metal version. Never reuse rubber/plastic versions. If heads are early '87 MY they have to be modified to fit because early heads had smaller diameter oil feeds.

I think the question regards the cam end caps, not the oil plugs/journal pins. Yes, the arms slightly touch the end caps, they don't press down tightly. It is an extra safety would the end cap to move outwardly - which is pretty unlikely.

Thanks for the replies!

Just to clarify, the car is an early 86 and I installed new plugs and seals. Im not reusing them haha.

It seemed like a redundancy since the clamping force would likely not let them pop out with 150 lbs-ish the oil is likely exerting. Just want to be sure.

oil wont push these seals out as they are only under crankcase pressure,

if you have some clearance between the cap and the arm you dont have to worry.

The more important thing to remember is that you use some of the loctite 574 between the end cam caps mating surface and the head.

NOTE a dab of Hondabond 4 is used at the junction after the cam caps are installed to seal the gasket
