Default fuel pump question

Drove the shark to STIM and back this weekend(1100 Miles round trip) and the car ran great.

However when I took her out this evening I could hear a humming coming from the hatch area while driving.

Stoped to check it out, pulled the rear carpet up and I can hear the fuel pump running, its quite loud, louder then I've ever noticed before.

So I'm thinking its on its way out...Sound right?

I will mention on the way down to SITM I ran 4oz's of MM oil in the gas tank and a bottle of Techron on the way home.

Any Thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

Thx

I wouldn't trust it for much longer.
The MMO and Techron are good for tank surface clearing, pump lubrication, injector clearing - these are all preventative and should be done on a regular basis. Once the pump starts groaning, he is not to be trusted much longer. Even if you throw on a new filter and he groans less, he will still hurt you.

Do the MMO/Techron thing about every fourth to fifth fill up as part of your preservation maneuvers.

Sure sounds like a soon to die pump. Glad you didn't get stranded because of it.

SITM is very hard on fuel pumps, for some reason.

Might be worth taking a look first - if any part of the pump or hoses touch the body, the noise level goes up dramatically.

Your description sounds like mine a couple of years ago. That pump is about to go bye-bye.
