Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what size the door and rear panel speakers are? My shark is in storage so I dont have easy access to check myself, and I have an opportunity to grab some free stereo equipment from a friend (good quality). Dont want them if they are not an easy replacement for my OEM ones.
My shark has stock stereo equipment currently. 84S2 Euro.
Many thanks.

You'll need to source some shallow mount speakers for the 4" mid without doubt.
I know you stated you had a line on some free speakers, if you find them to be unsuitable for a 928 install but still want a great sounding easy drop in alternative, I Highly recommend contacting Hans.
He has exactly whats needed and is very knowledgeable.

Doesn't the '84 Euro still have the speakers behind the perforated holes in the door?
If that's what you have, it's some goofy *** 3" round speaker on a rectangular plate...odds are the foam surrounds have turned to dust. The door metal is indented a bit for depth which it pretty much nothing. You most likely won't find any common speaker that will be thin enough. Some guys have managed to cram speakers in there with the magnets touching the metal frame but end up with ruined, ugly warped door panels.
I ended up cutting the metal out for depth and installed some 4X6 Sony speakers.
The rear in my '82 are 4" round with a massive magnet. The surrounds on mine were perfect; I believe made of butyl. Very high quality speakers and I doubt there is any drop in replacement on the market that will sound better.
For bass, I used a spare tire sub-woofer out of a Murano SUV. Everything looks factory stock and I'm very happy with the sound.

My '84 (US) w/perfs is getting new speakers soon courtesy of Hans. If I remember correctly, he already had the dimensions for my door speakers. I just had to provide dimensions for those in the passenger compartment.
There are a couple threads about the replacement speakers; here is just one of them...

(After reading up as much as I could, I just emailed him out of curiosity. He's also been working on rebuildable motor mounts too.)

Sounds like I need to get into my storage unit and take a look before I commit.
Tom, have you got Hans details?

I installed a set of 4x6 Pioneer TS-A4674R speakers and they sound great. Tight fit but they make it, I only used two of the stock studs from the OEM location to mount them but no issues for me. Cost was $40.00 from Amazon

I think with the 84 Euro they still had the single speaker behind the door's perforated leather/vinyl (US 84 got the new speaker style), which would change the measurements. someone with a pre-83 should weigh in. You could also look at hans'es speaker replacements for the old style if thats the case.
