Default Crafty Aussie Auto Shifter Handle

This sounds cool...

Link: Auto Sports Shifter|928 Australia

The auto sport shift handle for the 928 has a contoured handle (very comfortable) is leather covered, has full detent lock out (as an auto must have) but does not have a button sticking through the top.

The shifter detent points for Park, Reverse and Second work by depressing the shift handle when you want to shift past the spring loaded lock out.

Anyone figure how this works?

My shifter worked that way when the allen screws that hold it in place
backed out. I just had to push down on the handle to shift through the
lock out. Of course, when I pulled up on the shifter, it came off or if I
used any rotating movement, the shifter would turn. Not a good way to
keep.

Stop it, you're bringing back the trauma I went through when I went to buy a new chunk of plastic with leather on it and saw a price tag of $370 US dollars...

I hope my carbon-fiber-look cheapo from 928 Intl works OK.

I reckon there's a tube that clamps to the shifter lever, and the **** slides on this tube, with perhaps a small spring to assist the detent sprint to make it go back up.

Nuttin' fancy.

Reckon I'll have to make one.
