According to the ad, it is the rare 968 Model of the 928 sporting 400 - 500 HP.

Listed as perfect inside and out. I guess missing buttons and switches doesn't much matter over there.

It looks like seat covers on the original seats. They didn't even bother cutting holes for all the seat back levers. The sewing is pretty bad in one of the pictures.
What's up with the dash? It looks like the gap between the console and dash is exasperated.

There are three 928's in Dubai that are worthy of consideration owned by Phil and two of our friends- any other examples are a complete crap shoot with the emphasis on the word "crap".

By the sound of it some trader spotted the original sale, has probably valeted the car and doubled the mark up having heard 928's are picking up value. The driver's seat and the rear bumper logo pretty much tell you what you can expect to find once you get beyond the superficial. The chump selling it probably has no clue whatsoever about 928's and if Terry does not know the car then chances are it has been hacked around by a cheapo back street shop run by Afghans.

I saw a red GTS in Dubai being sold by a friend of mine in the trade some 10 years ago. He asked me what I thought of it and after a 10 minute look around advised him it was probably a bag of crap. He brought the car down to his sales outlet in Muscat and sold it to a local chap for about $13k. A year later I met the owner at the local dealers one day after seeing his car in the workshop. He was literally in tears- in the year since it had hardly run, it had cost him more than the purchase price in repairs and there was seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel given he had just been told he needed a new steering rack [after peeing it oil on the deck] a few days after receiving it back from another big bill. Hopefully this is not that example -but you never know.

There may well be the odd barn find to be had but not at that price or anywhere close to it. The rest of the car may be genuine but frankly I would be pleasantly surprised if there is even one left worth having that we do not know about. Jap imports come up from time to time and that is probably the best bet nowadays once the few good ones we know of are accounted for.

Rgds
