Hi guys,
As a follow-up, I have been experimenting with Carl's dump tube arrangement as pictured above. It seems to work very well. I never see any actual oil dripping from it, and the ringing sounds are gone. It may be my imagination, but I no longer smell any burnt oil around the car or through the heater.

I do not even know if detonation at idle is possible. No load on the engine, no boost from the supercharger... you'd have to try pretty hard to get detonation.

His ringing sound was from the crankcase ventilation system (now fixed) - not his tune....
