I have come to understand over the last 3 years...that when i post a question and it doesn't get a response...it is because i have asked a dumb question.(and that is probably the way it should be)
I shall now go and contemplate the inadequate merits of my question and go and find the answer that surely was/is clearly staring me in the face.

Remove the key in the cam, so the seal collar can move....it has to either come off first or come off with the aluminum housing. Neither can happen with the key there.

Adrian,
Sorry I can't offer help with the quandary you find for I have no experience with this up to this point.
I am awaiting the wiser ones to chime in, for I will be where you are now in the not to distant future, and address this question.

SO...cautionary tale here...removed key and sleeve...no problem...started tapping with rubber mallet...and now i've pooched it. I honestly was NOT hitting it hard and was trying to keep the mallet flush. So it seems i have been schooled the hard way yet again<sigh>.
Question is...what to do now?
I know this piece isnt stressed, but vibration alone will surely cause it to break completely..and that is gonna be really bad.
If i order a replacement, i'm going to have to remove the sleeve correct? How difficult is that gonna be?
Suggestions really appreciated here
Thanks,

Omg.. I literally just sent the pair from my 81 parts car out the other day to a guy who bought them on eBay dirt cheap. I can ask if he really needs both sides, maybe he doesn't..
