I never got a response from him after I e-mailed him about the mistakes in his ad. I was curious to see if I'd get the same response that Hacker did.

Here is a picture of the car for all of you doubters. After he won the auction, had it repainted and put on the proper tires for the resale; clearly it is rare and valuable in its present iteration:

Default $80,000 S4?!

I don't normally pay $80,000 for an S4, but when I do...

Wonder what answers he has about the "upgraded" ecu and if it has had any paint work.

Car sold at $50k, then add buyers fee, shipping, taxes..etc etc etc and we are close to $60K. $79K is a "asking" price and I am open to offers. It is a AWD, that is what the "4" stands for in the description. This is straight from Porsche Dealer..and YES it is a VERY VERY rare car...most were standard 928 cars, then a few added the "S" upgrade..but very few were the "S" upgrade with the "4" AWD...and you can post the link to my site as well.

Thanks Roy Cats

FWIW, anyone bidding with the intention of reselling it should know that it's had some paint work (paint meter readings on the right rear quarter panel starting at the top of the B pillar down to just below the body side moldings were ~22 mils +/-, the rest of the car appears to be original with readings between 4.0+ and ~8.x +/-), the rear bumper cover has been replaced bc according to the seller he was "tapped" by another car, the timing belt and water pump we're replace ~8-9 years ago so that will need to be done as well and the tires are an off brand he put on bc he knew it was going to be stored for an extended period of time. Still a nice car no doubt but, the paint work and the non-original bumper cover (the replacement will NOT have the VIN tag like the rest of the original body panels....) WILL affect resale $ IF disclosed.

FWIW, I talked to the seller.

Good luck.

People confuse the c4 in the 911 line (which is awd) with S4 all the time.

Not everybody is car smart. Some are money smart. They don't need to know about the cars so much.

Wonder if they changed the timing belt and water pump as it's never been changed; according to the original owner/Mecum seller. Also wonder if they'll mention the rear bumper cover has been replaced (will not have VIN tag) due to contact with another car, also according to the owner/seller. .....and, I wonder if they'll mention the paint work done on the left side B pillar down to just below the body side molding (paint meter readings are 22mils +/-). I wonder these things b/c they DO know about the issue/needs!

VIN added WP0JB0923KS861120

Price has dropped to $69,888 on the 89 928

On June 13th at the Mecum Auction in Seattle this 88 Ferrari Testarossa with 17,235 miles sold for $45k.

I wonder what car Roy would rather own now? The 928 or the Testarossa + $8k (shipping est + $5k more for the 928)

I would take the Testarossa.

I would take the 928 all day long everyday of the week. The only thing the Testarosa has over thw shark is that reputation of being the cool car, but you don't drive "cool". The 928 is a much better car imho.
