Agree, nice quality, and I got mine for the same reason, for the higher armrest.

I haven't received mine yet. Wonder what the hold up is?

Mine arrived yesterday and I installed it that evening. Looks nice.

Any ideas where I can get replacement mounting screws? They appear to be #4x3/8" (or the metric equivalent). Home Depot didn't have them. (I could have gotten #4x1/2" in zinc. I prefer the original black.) The prior owner had replaced three of the original screws with #6x1/2" slotted, in zinc. I didn't put those back in.

Update: I found replacement screws at Ace. 3 cents each for screws that match the originals.

Default Installed

I installed my center console lid today. It's a good match to the original. The height is perfect.

Looks awesome Bob! I may just end up doing that as the next thing on mine.

It doesn't look it, but it's pretty scratched up and the pod has been recovered and a new console might be just the thing...

Great I received mine and it's more of a cream then light grey as I thought it was going to be. Not good.

This one will be returned or up for sale.

Sorry to hear this for you. I know how I'd be feeling too.
Might be hard to get it back to wherever it came from. It also may be hard for someone else to use unless the color is a perfect match.
It is made well and is a nice unit for the price.
A way through this could be to contact Joanne Price, Proprietor at Color Plus and use her product to get a perfect match so you can be happy with the piece. She's a charm, and will work with you. As this piece is new, her Colorant will take to it very well. I did my seats, rear console, and door inserts and the interior looks a new car. It might be worth a try if you have no other option. After using and knowing her products, to me it wouldn't be a risk.
Best Wishes.

(No pun intended) but a great idea. Color Plus (Joanne) gets it right the first time, and is always available to help out with using the product.

And...
She was kind enough to send me a half pint of white Colorant on the house if I wanted to make my pint of BMW Light Silver Gray lighter. Normally she sells the Colorant by the pint. A pint was enough to do all the seats, rear AC console, and door inserts.
She could probably package up a half pint can for you.

I seen Bob armrest in person great qaulity and fit. I noticed my interior doesnt have the stitching under the armrest. Mine must be vinyl perhaps cuz its smooth. Anyone have pics of smooth bottom with stitching ontop.

Thanks! That's reassuring. Guess I didn't use the right search terms when I checked the archives.

I received and installed mine and could not be more delighted. Really well made and way better than the original due to height and strength. Color match is great --not perfect, but amazing given the 34 years since the original was made. Super easy to install due to the precision pre-drilled holes.

My car was not made with an arm rest. I bought a used one with a cracked lid and added this lid. I was very pleased to see that I did not have to cut any carpet or drill any holes in the car. I just set it on top of the original carpet and it stays in place just fine.
