The cars before the S brakes. Stopping power isn‘t on the same level as later models but I purchase my cars from the driving experience view.
In Europe there’s no need to buy an non S car because so much S cars are sold from 80 on.

To my knowledge, they were all 1978 Model-Year cars. Of course, the early ones were more preproduction than real production cars.

I consider "77" to be the cars built in what would have been the 1977 model year ...so January of 77 to august of 77. "78" model year is unique because it turned out to be around 19 months long.
I think more importantly to classiccarbuyer's question is the following, sent to me by another member last night. I won't reveal their identity here because he could have just posted it here and didn't. I've never seen this information before:

Which car is the last "early" (or 77) and which is the first "real" 78, by example?
The production date is usually not accurate because you can find preproduction cars for every model-year (like the four early 928 CS's produced in June/July 1987, so during the H programme but with J letter VIN/engine/gearbox).
By the way, what is the order number of number 1, 128-0001 or 127-0001?
