I've owned my GTS since 1993 and use it as a daily driver. It's got over 163K miles on it now.

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've had anyone say anything about the car.... up until the last couple of weeks. Over the last few weeks, it seems every time I drive the car I get a compliment from somebody.

What's going on? Where are the cameras? Am I getting punked?

I was telling my wife today, I had three conservations today about the car with strangers when I was running errands. One guy really net out of his way to talk with me. must be the phase of the moon. Unfortunately for me, one of my errands wa to get the car on a lift, and I have some rubber to replace on the front end and steering rack

I was filling up yesterday and a lady in her mid 50's pulls in front of me at the pumps in a Ford Focus. Get's out and she looks like a stereotypical flower child. Tie dye dress, scraggly greying hair to her shoulder blades. Blows me away with "that is a beautiful car" comment. Said her sister used to drive Porsches and she has always loved the 928. Made my day. Shows you really should never judge people. (unless they have a gun in your face and are demanding your 928. Then you can be pretty sure they aren't a car person)

Recently, I had a new BMW M6 give me a thumbs up and just yesterday I caught a Panamera owner admiring it outside my Publix. I am pretty sure this was because I just put the GTS Cup II's on it.

I got gawked at by a guy in a red 911 the other day. He slowed to a crawl mid-intersection and had a big ol grin on his face!

I had a guy driving a bran new Carrera stop his car, get out and give me the double thumbs up with the biggest grin we ever saw. My wife and I had just paced two high powered motorcycles down a twisting country road, followed by the Carrera, then a new BMW M-car, and then our 31-year old 928 with the antique plates.

The guy in the Carrera was astounded we could keep pace with everyone, and it was quite the run. My wife was having such a good time I never heard a peep from her. The BMW guy just frowned, lol.

hahaha, yeah really, the BMW guy looked like he had acid reflux.


It must have been bad trying to keep up with the new Porsche Carrera, but seeing a 31 year old 928 on his tail, and since it was a convertible, hearing the bellow of the unmuffled 928 howling back there (we are running only the catalytic converter and the front resonator from an ANSA system now. The sound is marvelous.

Had a guy, this last Saturday, in a Ferrari California give me the thumbs up. I was a little shocked actually.

Every time I see them in my rear view mirror i'm going oh sh..t what now... Cop: You did XYZ but I'm just going to give you a warning because I just wanted see your car (what year is that, how many miles...etc) Still counting my blessings for no tickets so far.

I get stared at by cops and then watch as they fumble to get their speed gun out, but by the time they try to tag me I am long gone.

I get stares all the time and people even ask what engine it has, (most of them guess the ubiquitous cheby 350).

It never gets old getting stares when I pass the Porsche dealership and they all stare at the car as they buy their new Panamera.

I have yet to get pulled over by a cop but I did get a fix it ticket for have no front mounted license plate in the mail .

But in the 2 years I have driven this car I have gotten into more accidents than gotten tickets. It gets annoying when people don't look when they change lanes and destroy a fender
