928 recognition

I drive my 928 a lot (it's a Texas thing) and it seems a day doesn't go by where someone shows some kind of respect/appreciation. Yesterday it was at the gas station and Wednesday it was at lunch. I've started more conversations with total strangers over this car. Even my wife now participates and she never used to talk to strangers!

The old 928s are definitely starting to get a bit more respect. Mine is about an 80% daily driver. I get most of my comments from younger kids who have no idea what it is, or dads explaining to their kids how the headlights come up. And they love the V8 rumble when they are used to 4 and 6-cyl engine sounds coming from an import.

A guy in the grocery store parking lot the other day asked me if I had put a "cheeevy" in my car. I tried to explain that it was Porsche's first V8 but I don't think he believed me.

My car never fails to draw admiring stares and smiles when I drive it around town. If I am pulled to a stop and a walkway and there are pedestrians one will inevitably nudge their buddy and say something and nod at my car. I stare at the damn thing myself sometimes!
I guess that must be what its like to be hot chick most of your life................. ;-)

Mine too always gets lots of looks.
The Look...The Sound...
I've even been asked on more than one occasion if that is one of those new Porsches.
I was very proud to say it is only 27 years old.

I have been driving the GTS around Orange County for 4 years now. Pretty sure that I've never gotten a compliment, thumbs up, or cell-phone pic taken. Either I'm doing something terribly wrong, or people are really really self absorbed here...

I was having lunch at a barbeque place in OC a couple weeks ago, and some guy in the parking lot asked why I didn't wash it... The nerve of some folks!

Perhaps you are one of the seven or so drivers in OC who is actually focussed on driving your car, and you don't notice.

Consider yourself lucky that he didn't write: PLEASE WASH ME on it.

The other day I'm at the agency goofing off cause sometimes I get bored and do that and we have a nice one...but honestly I needed to use the potty..I am back outside and this guy is taking pictures of it!
I told him they were 5 bucks each and we had a laugh..he has an 87 Guards Red 944 and was completely spellbound by the car...yes it may be something in the air..lately it has gotten noticed by a lot more people....but that could be because I removed the resonator so now all it has is the main rear muffler...which gives it a magnificent sound...
