Default Auto Transmission Help for 1984 928S

Have a few questions as to where I get front pump housing for transmission? My local German shop took the auto trans off car and had the following:

Unfortunately its not good news. After getting everything apart, it looks like the torque converter bushing is completely trashed and the torque converter sealing surface is also damaged. The inside of the front pump housing is damaged as well from the bushing spinning around. The bushing is supposed to be a pressed in part - it just fell out when the torque converter was pulled out.
It also looks like someone has been in there before because the torque converter bolts were loose.

So at this point it looks like the car needs a new torque converter, front pump housing and bushing. I have never had to source these parts before, so I will have to do some shopping to try to find what we need and get you some pricing.

The reason it was leaking so bad is that the torque converter rides inside that bushing - it had so much freeplay that it was bouncing around and opening the seal up so the fluid could just pour out.

I can find torque converter and bushing but where can I find a front transmission pump housing? I have searched online salvage with no luck. Thanks, Jeff

I know here in the states we wouldn't bother trying to find those parts but find a good used transmission to replace your old unit. Will be much cheaper to do so. New parts for these are going to be very high.

Contact the guys at 928 international. They can get you hooked up with a used or rebuilt Trans ready to install!

This is fairly common and usually happens on a freshly rebuilt transmission, when someone forgets to lubricate the bushing and the nose of the convertor. The result is almost always a huge leak a the torque convertor seal.

Was yours leaking?

+1 on the 928 International source. They can probably remove a pump and torque convertor, from a core.
