Amplifier Hiding Places
I'd like to install an (audio) amp, but subtly. Anything reasonable looks too big for the original space (passenger seat side cover). I've seen installs in the wheel well (I want to keep the spare and will have an eBay sub) and (visible) in the boot / trunk. Is there anywhere else where one will fit, preferably hidden?

Davek9 has a little Rockford Fosgate amp in the factory spot which I believe was actually designed for use it tight spots on a motorcycle.
You might try sending him a PM for details on model #

I have a Pioneer unit on the passenger footwell shelf. I built a wooden frame and covered it in black speaker cover type fabric. It doesn't attract attention at all. Easy throw for the head unit wires too.
Add: Found a pic from an old thread of mine.

If you can live without a spare - there is good space there. You could possibly install above the CE panel (just stealing passenger legroom) but airflow is not good for any serious power.
Hidden in plain view on the rear seatbacks is also possible. Here are pics of double rear seat-back a/d/s/ powerplates: one shown without covers and also with free-flowing speaker cloth cover - works very well.

I have the Rockford Fosgate PBR300 in the stock location (passenger side cover) and it works great to power Hans's front speakers and a small 8" sub in the rear. Here is a link to it...

I made a fuse board cover from a piece of plywood and plan to bolt a small amp on top of it. If I cover it with some thin black fabric it should almost be inconspicuous.
Seems like a logical place for a small tough amp considering I don't have passengers too often and even then they could rest their feet on it because the heatsink/cover is a solid piece of milled aluminum.
Keep in mind this amp was built in the 90's back when quality audio equipment was expensive and very well made.

Is that your car with the A/D/S amps on the back of the seats?
If so Fantastic job!...Thats the Best idea for a stealth amplifier install I've seen in a 928.
Combine this with the sharkwoofer and it's golden.

On the 90 GT Jarrod and i had the previous owner had made a false floor for the rear deck. It was cut out for the amps so it's total thickness was the thickness of the amps. Unless you knew about it you would never know it was there.

If you have pics of the build process you performed on the door I'd enjoy seeing them. I aquired some custom made lower door panel extensions that would do something similar, but have yet to do anything with them.
