Default 4 Seasons 84707 heater shut off valve

I had tried to install the 4 Seasons 84707 shut off valve in line with the heater valve. The 84707 leaks coolant at the middle (at the screw dial to open/shut off it, sorry I don't know how to call that) when the valve is fully open, I tried to reverse the hose direction and it still leaks but when it is fully closed.
I had purchased 2 valves from this seller in Ebay and both valve leaks in the same manner.
Am I installed it wrongly? Or the valves are bad? It should be a very straight forward installation.

Thank you.

It is hard to say without seeing the unit, and knowing its configuration so as to say whether you installed it wrong or not. That being said you'd be better off with a standard heater valve from one of our trusted vendors (even though your in Hong Kong). These units are inexpensive and do not weigh much so shipping would not be overly burdensome. These units (from our vendors) are very reliable - there are no surprises about their life span. Being that you bought a '4 Seasons' unit, it sounds like you want the ability to have adjustable temps coming into you cabin. I would stick with a known unit and make sure your vacuum system functions well. Use the Forum's Search option and investigate the HVAC vacuum issue. Also get new, the short hose to the heater valve.

It is super hot in Hong Kong summer so I like to shut off the coolant flow into the heater totally after the car has been shut down. This is the picture of the valve I am talking about. I though that it should be an easy installation but the valve leaks in the middle no matter which way I had installed it.

cheers

Did you tighten the hex jam nut? Theoretically it should seal the packing against the shaft to seal. Might be worth a try. I have the same issue, after replacing several heater valves, they still leak, and open fully when the engine is shut off, so A/C has to overcome a hot heater upon restart.

I have one installed and flow orientation is not a factor. Mine does not leak.
