MAF questions for my '86 - pics
I am posting an update on my MAF issue with my '86. It was suggested that I send it to Dallas or Denver to have rebuilt, however after being laid off a month ago, I am not able to fork out $300. I have called these locations at the suggestion from board members to see if their price is still $300. It is.
Until I go full time at my new radio station, I am needing to improvise. I have contacted an old tech that I have used for years and he offered to crack my MAF open and peek at it. First off, the box was chipped and moister had got into it and rusted it pretty badly. He took a solution and a toothbrush and cleaned it up pretty well and came back over today. It did not fix the issue.
1 question is.. what the hell is the circular indention seen in the pic? it looks as if it should be a ground but cant find a male piece that fits into it.
Question two... does anyone have a good board laying around? Cheap.
I have to get this car running.

The left picture is for adjusting the CO2 I believe which takes an allen key to manipulate. The only thing that connects to it is the MAF connector, there no other electrical connections whatsoever. Rebuilding the MAF is fairly involved and it comes back looking better than new when you send it in. You may want to try locating a good used one which will be cheaper but still a couple hundred dollars in the bank.

Three Wheelin'
Sent mine to Injection Labs. The problem if I remember correctly was the wire inside the maf. Kevin rebuilt it and the car never ran better. Took off like a bullet and used much less fuel to boot.

Matt... Hey man, we've all been there with only a few bucks in our pockets. Unfortunately, the Porsche line - in general - is always first in line for their allowance.
While this won't help you in the near term, I can loan you one of my spare MAF; however, I won't be back in the States until mid June. And, with my parts collection outgrowing both my garage and shed, I finally had to relocate all my parts to an off site 12x25 storage unit (signs of a Porsche addict) so I can't send my family to locate it in the chaos.
Again, this won't help in the near term, but if you still need one to borrow until you can get yours sorted, let me know.
