Why do my rear seatbelts sit so low?
It makes it near impossible to buckle the buckle in, and I actually use my rear seat almost every time I drive the car, for my sons car seat.
Any help greatly appreciated. Could someone post pictures of theirs as well??

Are you sure the package box (10A) is completely seated down ? If it is not the belt receivers will be recessed. I have a completely different set up there for the rear air unit, but when I serviced the thing I was careful to seat it all the way down. My belt receivers protrude from their recess by about 1 - 1.5 inches.

Yes it does appear that the package box is flush down, but by looking at the PET image I put up before it might be that the unit is flush in the rear but not flush down anteriorly where the belt receivers are. It could be the insulation layer bunched up under the carpet which would lift the anterior portion of the unit up thus recessing the receivers as they are bolted to the body and are not vertically mobile. (?)
Is something to consider. Other than not being properly seated, the only other thing I can think of is that some of the parts involved are not original to your MY. If someone with the same MY could chime in and confirm their belt receiver positioning, this would be good.

I won't have time to remove the console today to look. Did 82 MY not come with a cubby in the console? Could you please send a picture of yours ducman82

My '82 has no storage console. I don't know what the rhyme or reason is as I've seen older and newer models with it. Never noticed it on any lists as an added cost option either.

Wow! That's way different than mine! I actually prefer that. I bet that's why my seatbelt buckle won't reach! I'll have to hunt a new, correct one down. I'm planning on re carpeting, and removing cassette box. This will look best.

Yeah, I'm assuming that the PO put the cubby console in, but did not put the proper seat belt buckles in. I will probably replace those first, then worry about a cubby less later.
