Yep.
MP VIII & IX can wreak havoc if not maintained. They are a pain to access and are not readily visualized. They are also subject to the harshest of engine heat which be itself can degrade the carrying capacity of the wires and unions there. How's your 'V' ? Spotless ? Not a drop of water from the nearby gaskets and regulator/dampener bracket bolts at the back end ?
Only if your POSITIVE your battery ground strap is recent enough to be excluded from the issue would I not replace it. If you do, for kicks cut the insulation off when removed and inspect the condition of the strap.

May I ask what software you're running?
did the car have these issues prior to the intake refresh and other work?
interesting to learn what was found/replaced during the intake work.

Ok... so today, the car started up strong, ran smooth and had no issues after we put everything back together. (my original MAF back in, read the Temp Sensor II with a meter, reseated the LH and ECU) We also checked the connection on the LH and ECU. So maybe something is making poor connection and as the car warms up, the connection is improved or made solid.

So, you will have to ask Bill Ball what the software is. He is a member on this forum. I'm unsure. It was no help to us. There were no error codes that showed, even when the car kept stalling. The only use it had was testing the idol control value and throttle switch... which both work fine.
Ok, so I'll read the temp II sensor at the cold and mid warm stages. Maybe it is totally shorting out or opening mid point in the warm up process. Or maybe this is a poor connection somewhere, though I did replace the cracked and damaged connector and wire ends to that sensor with a new one.

Thanks, that kind of information would be important to me as it will save me from having to pull the intake. As I have a smoke machine, I was able to test and verify that I had no vacuum leaks so there would be no other reason to remove the intake.

Ok... so after reseating the LH and ECU, then clearing all the error codes using Bills computer, the car ran perfectly. It's been about a month now and the car is still running perfect. The idol is smooth and consistent and the car rumbles with a strong tone again. (unlike the funny quiet rich sounding idol it had before) I drove from San Fran to San Diego even, no problems.
So, it seems like it was a poor connection either on the LH or ECU controllers. Dirty or poor connector likely. I think I'll go in and clean then as well as re-seat all the fuses as well. I doubt clearing all the error codes made the improvement.
