Jake--

Ceramic tint better than metallic, since radar detectors and cell phones will work inside the car.

Be aware that if you tint the door side windows with ANYTHING that is a reason for the CHP to pull you over at anytime to have a little chat and check out you and your car plus write a fixit ticket.... Not cool if you have had two beers or some wine with dinner....And yes they can ticket out of state cars.

The factory tint was and is in the glass....anything you can peel off is aftermarket. Hold a white piece of paper half on half off a partially lowered glass and you will see it .. bronze or later cars green. You can go as dark as you wish on the rear glass but "limo" tint really makes it hard to see much behind you at night ! Not always a good thing. And California nothing is legal anywhere on the front.

I have a black on black with tint, though I can't tell you exactly what type of tint it is. I went dark on the back and quarter windows but not too crazy on the front ones for the reasons stated above. I personally think the tint makes the car look a lot better. I also got rid of all of the color on the car besides red, as the "amber accents" really don't do anything for me.

+928 on what JB said, best to leave the door glass alone, and you can tint the other windows as dark as you like. I had a friend that tinted his rear window in two layers, the first was like limo tint, then tinted over that with a mirror tint, the result was like a black mirror from the outside, like a two way mirror.

The windshield had colored glass, but the rest are clear as day after I took the tint off. Stock glass too...... Hummmm....
