Glen, I think you have hit on the best solution. Rather than trying to get together Thursday evening, set up a rendezvous at Fancy Gap. What do the others think?

And take into account Fraggle's comment on the BRP, folks, after all, he liked it so much in '08 he went as slowly as I did...

Default Northeast Caravan Meetup in Waynesboro VA

I just booked the Holiday Inn Express, 20 Windigrove Dr., Waynesboro VA. There is a good Mexican restuarant (Plaza Azteca) across the street, 23 Windigrove Dr. I plan on getting there around 6:30 Thursday evening.

We can make plans for the final leg into Banner Elk, those who want to do the BRP all the way and those who want to meet in Fancy Gap Thursday night.

Looking forward to it!

Great!! I'll see you at the Azteca! (And for those coming, it is a good restaurant.)

Anyone able to bring a "Hammer" or "Theo's Tool" to reset an airbag warning? Durametric doesn't work as advertised.

Default BRP To SITM

I did some Mapquest routes on BRP to Fancy Gap and then to Banner Elk.

Waynesboro to Fancy Gap on the BRP is about 4H 25M according to Mapquest.

You can see the route map here - http://mapq.st/Tyiklm

Waynesboro to Fancy Gap via Rt 81/77 is about 2H 38M according to Mapquest.

Fancy Gap to Banner Elk is 118 miles, about 106 on BRP, Mapquest says about 2H 41M.

Here is route map - http://mapq.st/1gUfdOR

I tried uploading them into my Garmin, but the Garmin just re-routes the trip along the highways, not the BRP. Must be doing something wrong.

FYI to any Canucks or norther US sharks. I will be crossing the Detroit border at about 9am on Thursday, heading for Alcoa. Would love to convoy with some sharks to Alcoa.

I spoke with Alex G today, he may be coming along as well.

Just need my new brake rotors to arrive.

I had the same problem but figured I didn't really need a GPS as once you're on the BRP it's just a matter of getting off at Fancy gap for lunch and then deciding (after lunch) whether to continue on the BRP to Banner Elk. The decision as to which route I take is going to depend on the weather (Praying for clear skys).

Anyone heading to SITM from the south. We will be leaving Houston on Wednesday the 4th and plan on stopping in Slidell, La. that night, the will be travelling to Chatanooga, Tn. via 59N thru Meridian, Birmingham to Chattanooga and staying Thursday, then on to B E Friday.
If anyone is travelling along that route we can meet up and convoy in.

Lon
