Default Caffeine and Carburetors in New Canaan, CT

What started out as a random Sunday morning get together at the coffee shop for 30 or so motorheads has turned into a HUGE event. Literally thousands of people milling about in the downtown. Business was brisk for everyone that was open.

Every type of 356, 911, Boxster or Cayman was there as was a 962. Old and new Ferrari's and Aston Martins were 6 deep. TR3,4,6's. An old MGB with a Rover v8. Lotus Elan that had fouled plugs. TVR. A BMW M1 along with 2002's, M3's, M5's, a really beautiful 2800CS. Cobra's of the real and replicar type. XK120, 140, 150, XK-E's and more Vettes, Camaro's, Goats, Firebirds, 442's, Shelby Mustangs than I'd seen for a while. A Bubble car. Multi-year production numbers of Morgans. Lambo's of all era's including a Miura Jota (1 of 5 maybe?). McLaren P1 and the one before it. Old Model T's. Lead Sleds. Bronco's, Land Rovers, Land Cruisers. Everything you could think of.

Even the parking lots blocks away could have doubled for the main event in town.

But not one 928 besides mine. I just don't get it How can such a good car be so overlooked? (Especially my year with the good rear axle ratio, Auto trans of course. ) It had production numbers that Aston or Ferarri would have killed for. Not like our cars were one-offs or something obtuse like a Tatra. I just don't get it

Hi Tom,
I saw your car in the parking lot. Yes, I did not drive any of my 928 this time. It was a great event. Lots of cars. Lots of GTRs, Ferraris, one new corvette.
Sorry did not take any pictures.

I am from CT but living in MD. I do visit my parents in CT from time to time. Maybe my 928 can make an appearance over the summer now that the engine is rebuilt and running well. My car is on the rougher end cosmetically but it's a mostly whole 32 valve 928.

It's not that I was trying to chide anyone here for not showing up. More that our car has fallen off the radar and is just not known (and exalted) as I think it deserves.

But then again it wasn't that appreciated when it was new so maybe I'm expecting too much...

In this neighborhood (western NY) 928s have become unusually rare. Mostly old muscle cars seen on Sunday. I returned from my Florida hideaway last week and a brake line crapped out on the Suzuki.
Old reliable 79, perched on the lift for 4 months, fired right up for my parts chaser. Fixed the line and then the clutch on the 79 decided it didn't want to cooperate. Bled the slave and it seems fine. What's the chance I need to rebuild the cylinder? -Lucky I had each car driveable when I needed it. Long walk to a store.

I'm up for the May date.

I'm close and have never made it.

Will I be able to get my 15 year old son out of bed for it?

I lived in CT from 1961 to 1997. I purchased my 1987 S4 as a new car and drove it pretty much as a daily driver from '87 to '97. Age may dim my recall but I don't remember ever seeing a 928 ever during that period. Given the affluence associated with CT I would have expected that a 928 would occasionally show up. Of course 911's were as common as dog poop on the streets and Ferraris were not uncommon. Here in Wyoming, I'm the only owner in this large state, at least to my observation. Several years ago I spotted a 928 in terrible condition that was probably a '79 - '84. It was chugging through Laramie and had a license plate from somewhere else. Never saw it again.

Default Nice 928 for sale

This was a low mileage 928 for sale at the show. It looked perfect. Was owned by a guy that has an upholstery shop in Danbury.
