Help transmission wont upshift
Hi All, My recent aquisition, an 83 928 w/ auto trans, won't shift out of 2nd after about 1 mi of driving.
I looked on Greg Nichols site and it was xtremely helpful. Under "tips-auto trans-wont upshift" is a 928 w/ exactly my problem. In the reply Wally suggests Govn'r or valve body. I pulled, cleaned, & re-installed gov. Didn't fix.
Can anyone tell me what Im looking for as far as the valve body is concerned?
Are there 'mods' for manual shifting? Who makes some of the shift kits I have seen refered to here?
BTW couldn't come up w/ much from archives- must not be hitting on right combo of search words.

How did you clean the governernor? Does the transmission shift manually? Was there any damage on the governor driven gear. You should install a gauge on the governor port and check for oil pressure As per the WSM. First. Then post back.
