Default Known good transmission fluid pan FS?

I'm looking for a known-good transmission fluid pan. Mine has been leaking for the last 7 years and there have been more than a few new gaskets installed with proper torque and with no change in the leak. Emphasizing that if you have a known-good pan (never leaked prior, or has been measured for trueness), then please PM me with a price. Thanks

Save up your money and buy a new one. There is no substitute.

I keep new ones, in stock. Good used ones are few and far between.

I got a whole bunch of brand new factory transmissions in. The pans were tightened enough to bend the stop tabs out.

Do that a few times and they are hopeless, since the metal gets soft right where the bend occurs.

Hi Greg; you have new pans, by themselves? If so, what is the price?

Yup. I have virtually every single tiny piece for the automatics. I rebuild quite a few of them and a huge majority of the pieces are in Germany, making efficient quality rebuilding difficult, at best.

That's a bit of a joke, around my shop.....we can track what Mercedes sells over here...and the pieces we use on a daily basis are never bought by anyone else.

I'm going to start a thread, with the guts from a transmission that I've got out of a car in my shop, right now. Was recently rebuilt and never worked correctly. If it wasn't so huge of a mess, it would be really funny.

Be glad to look up the price, on the pan, tomorrow, for you. They are not cheap!

Mercedes has been "jacking up" the prices on their pieces like absolute crazy people. Example: The majority of the internal "steel" plates were right around $10.00. They are now in the $70 range. Porsche still has some pieces, but they are not replacing anything, from Mercedes. When they run out....they are done.

They are available from our regular vendors like 928 International and 928srus. I know Mark & Tom at 928 International have them in stock. Last time I looked they were quite reasonable, since they are M-B parts in disguise. Get the new-style gasket and seal kit from them too, with plugs for the drain plugs on the pan and the converter. And, if you don't already have one, get an inch-pound torque wrench for the sump bolts; most leakage is caused by overtightening those bolts. Even the cheap $10 Harbor Freight 1/4"-drive version is good for this duty, a bargain compared with changing the pan again.
