Default Leather upper lid liner

My 1984 came without the leather upper lid liner on the sun roof. It seems that I should be able to fashion a replacement easily enough, but I am not certain how the liner is attached to the sun roof. There are three steel arms about 3/8" in width attached to the sun roof. Do these hold the panel, or is it clipped on some how? If the arms hold it on, are there sleeves on the panel for the arms to slide into?

There are 3 screws you need to remove. They can be seen when roof is open, thenpanel can be removed

Ahh.
The pleasure of a sunroof refresh...

I can remember actually thinking that I was lucky that I got a car with one!

You might want to look at PET to confirm what parts are supposed to be there, but FWIW, my '89 sunroof has a sheet metal panel to which the leather and foam backing is attached. This in turn is held to the outer sunroof panel by three screws along the front edge, and is pressed downwards when installed by the long metal fingers that you described.

Ret,
Thank you! I see exactly what you are saying and it makes perfect sense to me know.
