Bosch as far as I know does not make a 928 water pump so it is made by a third party possibly.
It is certainly a very old design as it uses a metal impeller with no additional bushing to keep the impeller on the shaft. Unless someone has masses of "in use" backup I would not use it on any of my cars. Far better to use a well know manufacturer with a track record and a plastic impeller.

That listing is very similar in a few respects to one posted here very recently ... with a metal impeller.

Be worried about a metal impeller, but also be worried about what you can't see .. the bearing pack.

Give Roger a call and get a known pump with backup, at a fair price.

Do the new Porsche ones have a bushing? I thought that was a Laso modification?

Porsche went to the plastic impeller. Laso, when they were still supplying a metal impeller, added the extra bush as an interim fix prior to going to the plastic impeller.
Both Porsche and Laso are fitted with the plastic impeller. Have been for some time now.
Hence my comment about the old design of the "Bosch" pump - at least two design iterations behind current manufacture.

Valve damage cost out weighs the cost of a good pump. Risk it if you want, but it's a big big risk. I would go insane every time I drove with a questionable pump.

If money is the issue you can buy a nice rebuilt pump for about $100 and probably the same high risk factor. Pinning the impeller will certainly reduce the odds of failure.

I do not have the parts to rebuild the pump - sorry.
If it helps I can sell you a new rebuilt pump for $85 as long as you accept all responsibility for it with no comebacks to me or my company.

Or hold the person/shop who installs it responsible either. I've told plenty of people that they can use those rebuilt pumps, but if it fails the day after it's installed, they will be paying the labor to replace it twice.
