I just replaced my 86.5 windshield 2 months ago for less than $400 installed. Sigla glass, tinted with antenna! A local company called me up one evening, bothering me as they do, so I put them to the test. They said it was available and the installer would be out in 2 days. I doubted it as this was the 4th try, everyone else getting the wrong glass or nothing available at all. Sure enough, just what I wanted, properly installed for $340 + tax! Diamond Glass in Salt Lake City. Phone # 801-467-5401, give them a call and see if they can do something with one of your local galss companies. BTW, that was the "No insurance" price! They told me that the one without the antenna was $20 more.

Good Luck!

Curious thing, screen prices. I had to have a new one to pass inspection here - I swear you would be told you needed a new one if you just drove it around the block! Anyway, it was under A$200 (~US$135) fitted, top edge green tint is the only type available.

John - 32 E to 97 S is good, there's also 3 N to 32 E merge lane to 97 S (uphill with a long sweeping right hander). We better quit giving away all of our "tire test" roads, any more and we better take it to email.

I was quoted $250 installed here in the Bay Area. That includes them coming to my place and doing it all. Another Rennlister got the same deal recently on his newer model.

OK....... I want names and phone numbers..... preferably of national brand shops but a part number should do.....

Pacific northwest would be preferred...... Montana is best, but I heard that the last guy left last week!!

Kalispell would be ideal!!

Brian

I think your in the ball park cost wise. I seem to remember the PO of my car replacing the windshield to the tune of $1200 just prior to my purchase of the car.

After that discussion GLASS INSURANCE was in my vocabulary with every insurance company I spoke with!

Hopefully we can find a shop to replace it more reasonably in Montana when we go down for a rip!

Rich:
I hope to be able to get one shipped..... An extra day off to do the windshield is gonna be about $1000.00 in lost income.

Part # for my Sigla glass with antenna and tint is as follows.

FW00506GGNN*MYS

List price was $1022.95

My cost was $340 + $22.44 tax installed.

Diamond Glass does have offices in Southern Idaho, not too sure about Northern Idaho or Montaaaaana. (Sorry, old sheep joke)

OK, the verdict is in. Diamond AutoGlass supplied the unit itself for $288.00 US. Shipped it to Canada for $150.00. $100.00 to the Customs Broker, and $100.Can for the install, up here.

Beats the "HECK" outa $1300.00.

Now, what do I have to do to prep the car for the job?? I understand that I have to disconnect the antenna lead. Where is it? How do I get to it?

Hey Brian,

Sounds like you ended up with a good deal. As far as your prep goes, it seems like I remember some people saying something about the molding around the windshield. I think some said it is better if you did it yourself if the installer is not familier with sharks, because it is easy to mess up and expensive to replace. But, then again my memory ain't what it used to be. LOL

Well, I'm not all that familiar with the trim issue, either. I'm having an auto-body shop do the R/R on the windshield, so hopefully they'll have a clue!!
