Can they be unchromed and powdercoated or is getting chrome off too hard?

Do those tire sizes work on a GTS or would I need to replace them?

My son had his chrome wheels powder coated right over the chrome. I didn't think it would work but has held up fine.

Also, has anyone determined whether the larger diameter of the Panamera wheel/tire combo affects speedometer accuracy? Saw this mentioned while reading through past threads but no conclusion ...

A few folks are running these. I think the factory spacers were all that were needed-and the usual rolled rear fenders...

I run those exact rims, they made my speedometer more accurate to the point of being within less than 1 mph.

I didn't need to roll the rear fenders on my 81, but I need to roll the fronts as they run when going over large bumps.

Tom,

With the right tire size, you would not have any problem. But the Panamera tires are WAY to big for any 928.
Don't remember the exact size you would need though. About 225/30 and 255/35 or so. Some will know better.
You would need new tires for sure.

The rears make 928's look like a drag car from the 60's and the fronts wouldn't even be able to withstand a 1/4 turn of the steering wheel before rubbing.

I run 265's in the rear no problem and could even use 275's without issues.

The fronts should really be 235's or 225's. I run 245's and I should flare the fronts 1/2 an inch to stop the rubbing on the tire edge.

225-235/40 front and 265/35 rear should fit well. as others have mentioned the stock Panamera tires are too big.

235/40 fronts and 265/35 rears fit perfectly.

Speedo will read 2.7% low (at 61.6mph, speedo will read 60mph)

Yes, you will need to replace the tires. With the stock Pana tires, the fronts won't even fit in the wheel well - and the rear end will look like a Starsky & Hutch Torino. Of course, your mileage should improve since you'll be going down hill all the time....

I bought a set with tires six months ago. I took the tires to several used tire shops in my hometown and no one would buy them. I don't understand why Porsche would think that size tire would work.
