RUF wheels on a 928?
Hello gents. I am seriously considering running the RUF style wheels on my 928. Has anyone else tried a set on or currently running them? I have looked all over but couldn't find any pics(yes I also used the search button :-) . Or if anyone has some sweetassed Photoshop skills and are bored if they would consider putting some on a 928 I would be much appreciative.
Here is a link to the wheels in question. I think the fat 5 spoke design would look nice on the gorgeously bulbous shape of the 928.

Thanks for your time.

Some of the best looking wheels available for a Porsche are from RUF.
They came in many sizes and offsets and yes there are some out there that will fit a 928.
You must have the size / offset from the seller to know if they will fit. The close to et65/et70 the better.
Many of the RUF wheels I've seen are for early 911's which are around et40 - that will never work on our cars.
They are not cheap either, but a good quality wheel. The few I've seen for sale that will fit the 928 were in the 944 / 951 section so I would search there too.

Thanks for the input for sure. I will be running Ott quarters on the rear and Kibortized front fender so they added width will be ok. I agree they made some gorgeous wheels for sure.

I was once on the hunt for Ruf wheels and if my memory serves me..... the front offsets were either in the 50's or lower 40's.
Even with Kibort-ized front fenders, an et40 front wheel is not a good idea. The ackerman no the 928 is very sensitive. The further away from et65 the worse it will be. I noticed a difference between et52 and et56. I can only imagine how dramatic the effect would be with an et40.
Long story short, IMO you should hut for the sets sold in the et50's for the front.

Ok that makes sense. The ones they are selling on that link are 52 ET front and rear for wide body 911s and 52 front and 67 rear for the narrow body cars. Both in the 19x8.5" front, and 19x 11" rears. May have to keep looking for a better fitment in those wheels.
Thanks again for your help and input.

RUF made some really nice 18's wheels in 928 "workable" offsets.
Many feel 19's are too much for a 928. Personally I'm on the fence with that one. Friend of mine has 19" 996 Turbo wheels on his 928 and it looks awesome.
Here is my 79 from a few years ago with 18x8 et52 wheels up front. My car is very low compared to stock and the front tires are only 225's.
The front fenders have the lips ground off and with gloves on, I've "grabbed and pulled" to persuade the fenders to give me just a little bit more room.
In town, pulling into a driveway with any kind of a "bump" while turning the tires will touch the fender if I'm carrying any speed.
I suspect this has more to do with my low ride height though.

Here is the same car (similar corner) with 18x8 et56 wheels up front with 235 tires that have a really wide "curb protector".
With these wheels I know I can run a 245 tire that doesn't have the curb protection.
I still have rubbing issues if I pull into a lot with a bump too fast while turning. Again, my car is sitting so low this is the primary culprit for that.

The RUF Speedlines I had on my S3 where 17" x 8" ET 56.7 up front and 17" x 9" ET 45 for the rear. One of the best looking wheels IMO.
Go to my flicker link and then at the album for my 85. Link in my sig.
