Well he said he will let me know tonight. The car has enough positives ( all electronics and motors are working except the sunroof), drives and handles well, feels solid, panels are tight, the wiring under the hood looks good besides the plug wires. Like you said it is an 16v and that was what I was looking for, for that reason. Will find out his answer tonight. Thanks for all the responses...looking forward to becoming a member soon

Well....Didn't quite work out. The guy is still in the process of getting the title and the Nevada DMV requires the physical title to be able to do anything with the car here. I was really looking forward to the drive home....the search continues

Things to ask: Before you even go look at a car....any car.
Do you have a CLEAN title ??
Is the Title in YOUR name ??
If I come there with cash is there any reason why I can not take the car with me right then ??
How long have you had the car ??
What repairs, changes have you done??
Why are you selling it ?? OH you have two others and like this one you like the least

The yellow one is out of my price range for now. I looked at the red 1979 which the ad says runs great but it doesn't even run. There was another one that supposedly needs a fuel pump but you know how that goes. The guy from Corona said he would be willing to drive the car to me after getting the title taken care of, he actually apologized for wasting my time...will have to wait and see what happens.

Somehow the internet is so impersonal that people have a hard time with the truth.... and with free adds they have nothing invested in the process. I have looked at a LOT of cars end up buying few...

Are you budgeting for the $2k or so almost any used 928 is going to need ASAP before really driving?

That is the reason I am trying to stay around 3k....I have been doing my homework. My kids are in Orange and I am out there once a month anyways. I am just trying to find something that runs in a 16v that hasn't been chopped and patched and that will take time.

No affiliation but this might be a car you could be interested in. From what the add says it has had a lot of work done.

In your position I would hold out for some unfortunate person bringing a Euro to Calif and finding out it won't smog. Two or three turn up about every year. You might also check in at the Pelican forums, which have something of a budget/SoCal bent. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...chnical-forum/

I don't think I've seen any recommendations for a professional PPI.
