after my brakes failed at castle combe the crash was one to many hits for the old girl, so i got a new shell and started stripping any good parts from my old racer ready for the new shell.

heres the new shell after coming back from the acid dippers. its the easiest way to strip every bit of paint, underseal etc from inside outside and inside chassis legs etc.

first parts going in the repainted shell

^^^ my cayman racer in the background.

ported heads

sorry about all the link pics, im at my limit for saved pictures on rennlist. not sure if its because im not a member? ill join if it is!

just getting the old girl built up for this season now. only mods for the last 10 years ive raced her have been- 3 way ohlins dampers which i really rate, equal length headers, rmb, upgraded pagid pads and michelin cup tyres as we have to run road legal tyres, perspex windows throughout and lightweight panels throughout(bonnet, bootlid front end/fenders etc) for this year im putting on some itbs, ported heads and some 18 inch wheels ti get some wider rubber on the ground.

cant wait to drive the new improved version!

You did not have the correct tag before and after the image address. I went ahead and fixed the links in your posts.

For future reference, you need:
[img] - before the link
[/img] - after the link

OR.... you can click on the insert photo button - it's a yellow square that looks like it has a mountain in it. Just click that button and paste the image address in the box that comes up. At least I think that button is there for non-member. I cannot remember.

I also merged all the posts together, no need to have all separate ones.

You should still join up though, then you can see what everyone was saying about the 962 you posted about in Off Topic.

didnt mean to pee anybody off, just wanted to share as you guys seem the friendliest. the cup and turbo forums arent as welcoming as you guys(not that anyones horrible or anything). just not the same atmosphere as in the sharktank
im going to join, i shouldnt be so tight, its all these damn racecars making me penny pinch!

Perhaps we are just more selective about who we opt to mob on any given day...... By the way what oil are you using in the GTS ?

i use valvoline racing 20/50
Same here, it is great oil, has a lot of zinc in it. I use it in my DD 81. Nice to see that you are rebuilding your racer

bad oil pressure when racing with the Valvoline 2050. when working with scot and his engine builds. I wouldn't touch the stuff in a 928 unless it was for street only use. so far the only oils that Ive seen that I would trust would be redline or amsoil. other car experience doesn't really carry over. for some reason , the 928 when raced, cooks the oil and needs the viscosity to be held to a slightly higher level. The fact Ive been so lucky, with amsoil, would point me to use it vs other options. cheap insurance and a clear winner of how the oil pressure stays up when cooked to 260F. (always 5 bar no matter what)

Actually it got good reviews! It's not deleted, just in the "Off Topic" section.

MK- Serious question- Is your oil pressure sender any good? What pressure do you see at hot idle, say, on the grid?

What if, I mean, what if all of the Amsoil talk over the years was due to a faulty oil pressure sender?

Actually if you restrict the oil flow to the heads.....would you not then have higher oil pressure. We know that when an early S-4 blows out the plastic cap on the unused camshaft journal the oil pressure at idle is way low...
