S4 Auto Position 2
Hi. I'm pretty sure that my owner manual says that with the gear stick in position "2" the car should accelerate quickly to 75 mph. I tried it tonight and I'm pretty sure I was going about 60 max when it felt like the rev limiter kicked in and it lost power. Any ideas?

Actually scrap that. I've just looked at my manual and it doesn't say that at all. I must have either dreamt it or read it in a manual online somewhere not related to my car. Really confusing because I swear I read a whole paragraph about it.

Well if your rev limiter kicked in then it is doing what it should do. If it got there quickly then the motor is doing what it should do. If you enjoyed it then try doing the same in third and you should reach about 130 mph but watch out for those white cars with red/yellow stripes on their sides.
Whereas I did read that I can assure you it is correct and when you have done this then you can think about engaging warp drive. Not done that for a long time though.

You shouldn't be hitting the rev limiter in 2nd gear at 60mph?
if you put in 2 it should have shifted out of 1st at some point(just prior to 60) and into 2nd....where it would stay until you moved it to 3 or D?
sounds like you were still in 1st gear if you hit a rev limit at 60 mph

So sounds like there is an issue after all.
Possibly. Assuming that the car took off in first gear then it didn't feel like it shifted up gears before losing power.
I know the Bowden cable is slack. Could that stop it shifting?
I tried to adjust it from the engine bay but I can't seem to get the adjuster to move any further up the thread. I think it can also be adjusted from underneath which I plan to look into when I next get the car lifted up. Also plan to do a tranny service.
did it feel like it just lost power unexpectedly in 1st gear (somewhere around 5200rpm) ?

Maybe the cable is disconnected at the trans.
I'm familiar with a few accounts of similar symptoms- loss of strong acceleration at upper end- that were eventually resolved by correcting trans fluid level (found to be too low).
We'll hope it isn't pulled timing from something tripping the knock sensors.....
