"The car is located at the shipping company warehouse from TX, sealed in a container ready to be shipped at your address. Anyway if you agree to buy it you'll have 3 business days since the car will be in your possession to inspect/test it, and if something is wrong, you'll have the right to refuse it, for any reason! Like i said in my first email, the car is in mint condition! For that i sealed it, to be sure that will not appear over the night any scratches, dents and so on. Thanks"

I just beat all of you to it. I simply sent him my check routing and account numbers, my social, and my mothers maiden name. It's all mine, and he said I could keep the container as well! I'll be adding 95 GTS to my sig very soon.

Oh, I know. Tell the guy you are buying his car. Send a "check" for $3000 more than whatever you settle on for the purchase price. Make up the bank name, bank code, account number, and business name on the check, i.e. bogus check. Then send him an email saying you had to go out of country on business and your office sent the wrong amount and you need him to immediately wire the difference to your account in London.

I found a 1974 Trans Am for sale at a very low asking price on carsforsale.com. It seemed odd, but I emailed anyway. The email I got back seemed VERY odd, so I googled the email address and got this forum. I'm posting to back up the fact that this is a scam and to help anybody else who happens to google this guy's email address, gordonk1946@live.com

The price for the 74 T/A was $13k when the car is really worth $40k or more. The ad said it was located in Georgia, same as me, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look. This is the email I got back:

Hello, thank you for the interest in my Trans Am. First of all the car in MINT condition!!! I am not in US anymore, i'm a pilot, and i am working for an airline company from Europe.

The car is currently located at the shipping company warehouse from TX, sealed in a container, ready to be shipped.

The shipping, to any location within US, is free!

I sealed the car in a container due the many problems with shipper handlers that i heard, i wanted the car to be received by its new owner without any scratches.

If you are interested i will give you more information.

The title is already signed, no rust, no nothing!

If you are interested let me know, if not i wish you'll find a good car.

People fall for this stuff because they periodically hear about 'barn' finds, and think that they can win the 'barn find' lottery. I had a guy at work who almost fell for one of these ads; he was going to pay the guy and take a taxi to pick up his paid for car, as he had totaled his previous one. We offered to take him to check it out. Of course, the address didn't actually exist, it was an empty lot between 2 houses. People fall for it because they want to believe it.
