Look closely at the tensioner pulley; could be a missing washer or bent bolt, but do find out what is causing this. I haven't looked at Dwaynes write-up, but I suspect as thorough as he is, there will be pics of the washer, etc. and their order. Of course you will have to disassemble yours to check this.

Thanks. I'll consult the PET and do a strip down.
Cheers

It's hard not to be too paranoid about the belt b/c of the fear. I have two perfectly good belts hanging in my garage. One is of unknown age. It was on the '85 when I got the car. I opened it up and it was tracking OK, and all seemed in order, no cracks but there was a ball of black fuzz in the bottom of the center cover, history unknown, did they put the old model belt on an '85 and wear off the edges? It did not show evidence of that but the fuzz came from somewhere. I changed the belt and WP and rebuilt the tensioner and never questioned the decision. I could never get the tensioner to hold oil, so next time around I went to the Pkensioner. The other belt has all of 5,000 on it and looked new, but it was pushing 7 years. Peace of mind.
