Gotcha covered on all fronts.
My car is an '89 S4, btw.
I've bought a gold foil material on which you can use an ink jet printer and replicated (with Martin's assistance) the radiator decals. Once printed, I shoot them with the clear coat that Papilio sells and aside from the decal being thinner than the OE foil, they are absolutley spot-on. If you PM me your email address, I'll pass along the template we created in powerpoint.
I also sourced a replicated VIN sticker from a company in Texas (www.escautomotive.com) and provided them with some information on the car and they gave me a perfect replication. I also sourced the Catalyst sticker in the photo from them. Here's the before and after....
The bar-code sticker and the paint code sticker were made from a vinyl material on my ink jet printer, also sourced from Papilio.

I had no luck saving my foil stickers/VIN and would need to create a
gulf-blau color code sticker.

Those look great! I am sending a pm about the template. I have gotten materials from Papilio for my dial face project and I can vouch for their quality, a lot of stuff that is supposed to be ink jet printable is only marginally so, but theirs works well.

if you have any luck with the VIN decal through ECS, would you mind sharing your experience please? I tried them but they won't send me one as I am not a repair shop. Maybe you have better luck than I did.

Alternatively, you can source a white vinyl material such as I did with the rad stickers, and create your own. The white vinyl accepts inkjet extremely well, and Papilio offers a semi-gloss spray finish.
I'm traveling at the moment and will check receipts upon my return tonight, but I recall that the ESC sticker was around $200.

That is the foil. They also offer a clear overlay...which is just okay. The clear spray really enhances the polyester film and provides that great reflectivity like the OE foil stickers.
Cannot speak to the longevity of the stickers, but so far, so good.

My stock metal stickers are now more silver metalic (with hint of gold) than pure gold (I know this has changed over time...) - however they have always been a fairly matt finish - I would not have ever said they were highly reflective - so this material Rob posted does not look at all authentic looking to me...? making it even glossier still seems a strange direction to take... Am I missing something here?

I am having trouble confirming the paint code for Gulfblau,
seems 912s were offered in this color in the late 60s with
paint number 6603 and color code 315
But i also found a source which states Gulfblau as 6060 and lesonal 1 code 328 so i need to get this figured out.
I tried to save mine with heat gun and blade but had no such luck,
my VIN sticker wasn't worth saving as it was destroyed removing it.
I hope ECS doesn't have issue with that.

Thanks so much. Having these printed really makes the project complete. I am not worried about the finish being off slightly. Better than the alternative. I can clear them myself.

Alan: my OE sticker, though peeled-up and scratched, was very much a gold foil...not Matt finish. Papilio offers a semi-gloss clear if you want to go that route. Nonetheless, it is way better than any of the stickers I'd bought in hopes of replicating the originals.

I had the pleasure of getting a new factory high voltage sticker back in July 2006, it was shiny as hell. Took me three years to get it on the car:
By 2013, they might have been a little less shiny:
After 20 years, this is what my original GTS radiator decal looks like:
100's/1000's of heat cycles can't be good for these...
Can't prove it but I'd guess that the spare tire sticker was done on the same foil as the high voltage stickers, and is more likely to represent the original hue/sheen of the foil, since it's not heat cycled and is covered by carpet:
