Default 1979 928 question

I have 1979 usa 928, the car is texas so its expemt for tail pipe emission
I purchased this for 1$ It was a basket case, down to bloc to make a long story short I'm at the point fire this up. Need to finish the exshauo=at weas worried about the engine. I am removing the cat. converter and am looking at a wye pipe (2- 2" intake and 2"1/2" outlet) does this work? Or is this wrong way to go. Thanks for help

why bother removing the cat ??? FIRST get it running so you can then see if it drives.....you are a long way away from hearing varoom, varoom, given how much CIS injection likes to sit idle.

It was pulled apart before my time. Would have to reassembly cat to cut apart for the end result just thought someone might have idea. thanks again

six bolts to the exhaust manifold , four bolts to the tail pipe.....you are far better off finding out if the car runs and drives before you start spending money "improving" it. And yes a simple Y pipe will eliminate the cat...but if the transmission is toast does it really matter ??
