This was my #1 concern with doing this modification, so I retained the factory installed check valve before the filter. Car goes *** over tea kettle, valve closes.

Hacker where is the check valve?? I didnt see one when I installed the new/used tank. The tank I installed had a 1 inch line that went from the top of the main body and then connected to the top of the tank inlet at a T fitting then the smaller vent went line went to the G fitting on the tank inside the RR fenderwell.
Unless your talking about the Check valve that is in the front portion of the RR fender behind the block off plate. Either way I think gas fumes will still be able to vent and thus cause a fire hazard in an enclosed area

But the tipover valve is really heavy! (Essentially a large ball bearing.)
The valve is in the passenger side rear fender, ahead of the wheel, where the second CIS fuel pump would be.
Euros up to MY?? don't have a carbon cannister, and are plumbed from the separator tank through the tipover valve to a steel line which exits behind the bumper.
I sold my '81 to a fellow that immediately parted it out. (thread)

I went chasing the petroleum cabin stink today and found that not only was my 'Y' connector broken, but that the PO had snipped off the hose going to the valve + throttle body setup. My car is an LS swapped '90 so there was no reason to keep any of that, but reading this thread makes me realize that I need something to put on the end of the hose coming from the gas tank as well as install active air exchange for my garage. Really freaked out by the idea of my crawl space filling up with gas fumes. Many thanks all, 14 years later! (no emissions testing where I live, this could have gone undiscovered for quite some time)

I wasn't planning on closing the loop, rather using the open ended fuel filter method described above to provide gas exchange while keeping out particulate. Basically the same as it is now with the broken lines, only with a filter
