intake options

I have sitting in my garage a 6.5 L stroker motor for my 81 928 . The motor just needs the heads bolted on ,and front end put together . With the purchase of a set of level 2 headers all I need now is a intake system . Who still makes ITB s or as I stuck with a very restrictive stock manifold ? GB intake still sounds a long way off . I have a halltach stand alone system for the engine management . Any suggestion's ?

Hans and Carl both offer the intake flange plate that bolts to the heads for possible ITB system, or with horns for a contained system with a single throttle. Start there. There is also an ongoing thread here regarding intake nozzles for a BMW R1000 that flys in the face of common thoughts about size and length and choke velocities (no rude comments...) that would be worth a look.
'Just have to put the heads on and still need an intake system and the front end put together' sounds like you have the crank and pistons installed in the block, and maybe the oil pickup and the sump cover installed. Sounds like the first 90% is done. That just leaves the last 90%.

Mike Simard has made a set of beuatiful ITBs that set direct on the heads without the need for adaptors. Bot sure if he still makes them for sale.
Alex "Cheburator" has successfuly used some BMW ITBs.

I am sure Mike Simard will make you one of his direct to head throttle bodies (54mm I think). Speak to Greg (Slate Blue) about throttle bodies made by the UK company AT Power. Shaftless design for 7% more flow. http://www.atpowerthrottles.com/beta/ Think I will go for the AT Power throttles for my engine.
Another option is the new intake made by Mr. Brown which is something in between ITBīs and the stock intake manifold from power point of view.

I don't think Mike Simard is building ITBs any more , He is not doing head bolts right now either . Too bad ,he dose such nice work , the crank girdle and studs are his . Webers sort of defeat the plan of a programmable engine management system . Carls intake runners are nice be a little pricey , considering you still have to add throttle bodies .Hans is a possibility , BMW ?

I do still make 928 parts. I fit them in with my industrial work which means they can be delayed.
I have 2 sets of ITBs going right now.
I’m out of head studs and have lost my source for thread rolling, that means no more unless I buy equipment.
I do have the main studs for the lower case on hand.

Terry, you can also make your life more interesting and perhaps hard by making dual intake a' la M. Anderson, but with latest good known design adds.
Making dual intake with large diameter piping may be big challenge though.
Also, the filters needs to be located in front of rad where all the dust and dirt will come first.
This is quite a nice design with all of the latest knowledge about the shape to give equal flow, low pressure loss, low frictional loss and
good velocity across intake piping.
In speedtalk they had long discussion and some CFD simulations made from similar design. They are talking about diffusion based manifold design.

Guidlines about plenum radiuses from throttlebody to each side of plenum:
"The maximum included angle for a diffuser of less than 2 pipe diameters in length is 16 degrees.
For more than 2 diameters in length the maximum included angle is 11 degrees."
Here is another plenum with similar idea, but input is located more to center of manifold. To make intake pipes coming from front using same path as stock
plastic tubes, the place of throttlebody and plenum input needs carefully design.

why cant we just make some adapters for a plenum that is stock available now, like the M5V8 ? (BMW). sure they are a little closer together than our runners, but I bet an adapter made could solve this issue.... then, im sure we would get some Big gains from the 5 liter and strokers!
