Since the Sachs kit used to be sold as 80-86, one would think that the pressure plate, friction discs, and TOB will fit any 80-86....

Below is the list of pieces with the MY ranges for each piece that I bought from Mark A when I put together a dual-disc setup to run in my GTS:

Clutch slave cylinder 78-82
Used 85-86 flywheel
Used intermediate plate 80-83
used guide tube 78-86
used lower bell housing 78-82
used release arm 78-91
used clutch kit - T/O bearing, 2 clutch discs, pressure plate:
Clutch disk #1 (front) 80-86
Clutch disk #2 80-86
clutch pressure plate 80-86
T/O bearing 78-86

So for use on an '85 Euro, I'd think that Brendan's setup would work just fine. AFAIK the place where it gets nitpicky is if you're going to run a DD setup in an S4+ car AND are continuing to use the LH/EZK setup, only an '85/86 flywheel will work and only after you transfer the S4+ timing ring from an S4+ automatic flywheel onto it. The 85/86 flywheels are infinitessimally larger OD than the 80-84 flywheel.

Flywheel part numbers, per PET. 85 Euro would be 928 102 078 01:

Code:
928 102 202 04 M28.01, M28.04 78-79
928 102 202 10 M28.13, M28.18 80-84
928 102 202 10 M28.09, M28.10 82
928 102 202 10 M28.11, M28.19 80-83
928 102 202 11 M28.19	84 US and Japan
928 102 078 01 M28.21, M28.43, M28.45 84 Euro, 85-86 USA
928 102 208 03 M28.41, M28.47, M28.49 87-95

Just project the special spidy symbol on a nearby cloud, and I will come running:

I would be most likely interested in this for my "never-ending-project" car, since I lack the clutch setup altogether currently. What is the general consensus on "maximum holding power/tq" for this clutch?

Those 2 flywheels are NOT from 85-86, right?
That's not really an issue since I'll be running some standalone ECU, just would like to clarify.
Also, we would need to arrange international shipment somehow...

I don't understand this with people running stand alone ECU's. Why would you not use the factory installed timing ring on the flywheel?

It's 100 times better than anything you will mount on the front of the engine like most do.

We've bench tested MegaSquirt with the 100 tooth up to 8,000 rpm - no issues.

Used short shaft is $200 - even better deal - someone needs to snap this up before I do

That's the way I'm hoping to run it, yes.
It's just to say that there are different (not necessarily better) options when running standalone.

The Megasquirt will read the stock toothed wheel but the EDIS ignition will not. A lot of people are using EDIS.

Eric,

I'll but one of the flywheels from you to help with the cost. Or maybe BC want to sell one separately to me?

Ah, knew there had to be a reason. Thanks

Why not switch to the 60-2 wheel then? The automatic timing ring from the S4's is the same size.

I have to talk to Mike (Z) - not sure we've decided on an ignition yet for my car. Since I converted my 81 to the dual coil / distributor setup I'll probably use that and start with MS controlling fuel.

Thank you,
