Confusing realy/fuse charts
I was chasing a failed Windscreen washer the other day, and looked for the relevant fuse ( or wipers) in the owners manual - not visible at all. A Relay was listed at XV for intensive washers, and at Fuse 6. In the end the problem was the washer pump was stuffed.
Anyway looking at various relay/fuse charts I find that 928gt web site is consistent with my owners book, and reality, but 928intl is different - relay 18 is given for intensive washers, from 78-84.
Is this just a case of too many assumptions about how long the same fuse and relay layout applied, or ? Some charts show Fuel pump at fuse 13, with 22 unused, but some at 22(my car) in the early years...

Its a case of the 928 Intl data being absolute rubbish - don't go there the page needs to be taken down - everything is wrong - including the sequencing of the numbering scheme that is used (and of course relays have Roman numerals) - ITS JUST TOTAL GARBAGE.
I asked years ago for it to be taken down - it doesn't even have a diagram of a '77-'84 panel (count the number of fuses? how many relays are there? are there actually such things as 'half'-relays? how many plugs are there? are there actually narrower width plugs?) ALL GARBAGE!
The later panels do have the correct diagram - however some still have the wrong sequencing so Roman numeral relays on the panel don't match the (non-roman) numeric sequence used... just dumb!

wiring diagram shows wipers fuse #6, 16A.
Fuel pump fuse #13, 16A.
Headlight cleaning pump relay VII
Wiper control relay XIII
Intensive cleaning pump XV
Did you enjoy changing the washer pump??

I am in trouble already with fuses, Ramcram. My owners manual fortunately matches the car, and has:-
Fuse 13 - Unused
Fuse 22 - fuel pump
I had been using the 928gt fuse charts for 83-84, which list the pump at 13, and I didnt find out it was 22 until I had pump trouble and actually saw a SPARK on F22!
Fuse 6 is listed as "Windscreen wipers, concentrated wash system", and the last bit confused me.
Relay XIII - Wiper Delay - NOT 'control', but maybe I am being a bit pedantic.
The others match.
thanks

Owners Manuals seem to be incorrect in some cases.
I have found that PET for USA/Can & ROW to be accurate.

I read relay XIII as wiper/delay/intermittent?
Didn't your car come from the Middle East?
You've got me thinking though. I have a couple of spare later CE boards, with the later blade fuses and it would not be a big chore to sit in front of the TV and re-plug the rear wiring to match the 81S WD.

The 1985-1995 panel diagram modified badly for use for the 1977-1984 cars appears on several other sites, but the incorrect sequencing and numbering style not so much... either way we can certainly do better... I'll email it to you.

Mark - I don't have it right now - But I will be happy to furnish the correct diagrams and numbers in a few days when I pull it all together. No credit required - just having it be right is good enough for me - I'm a big fan of 928Intl so I'd like you to have accurate info.

I liked the concept of the example above.
It made me spend quite a long time trying different methods of organizing the data for display.
Then I spent many days actually gathering data across years, sanitizing it and standardizing the nomenclature (which Porsche clearly never really did), then I tried representing it (...oops) and did another round of making it even more concise/compact for display.
So I have a full database for all years (but it needs some more checking), I have diagram for each year in detail (but these too need checking).
I'm posting an example of each type here for comments (constructive ideas appreciated). Eventually I expect the full set will get posted at our top vendors - 928 Intl for sure via Mark and I'll make generally available too
I envisage the following structure:
Early Panels [34 fuses, 20/21 relays, 25 (8 pin) plugs]: 1977-1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984
Later Panels [45 fuses, 24 relays, 22 (10 pin) plugs]: 1985, 1986, 1987-1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992-1995
This represents more unique diagrams than are shown elsewhere - because there are some notable differences between all these years.
I have added more visual cues for fuse positions & rating (inc color code) and especially relay position - because the strange number sequence is very confusing (Porsche really did screw this up big time).
I also added fuse input bus details and orientation cues for fuse in/out. Interchangeable relays are color coded, relay socket pin labels are given (as embossed on the panel) and the Pin ID for the plugs is called out.
Feedback here or by PM - whatever you prefer.

Thank you very much Alan. Very well done and well thought out. Now I can go get intimate with my CE panel.

They look great Alan ! Everything one might need to know is there, and its pretty compact. Laminate, and put on the back of the cover board, in a clear plastic envelope.
thanks
