Hi again Rob, are you able to tell me paint codes from the VIN? - WP0ZZZ92ZMS800121
Hi Carl-

I'm afraid I don't have color info for your VIN, I need to do some digging to see if I can find more info about amethyst color codes for 1991. As far as I'm aware there was only one Amethyst metallic shade on 928s in 1991, color code 83K. But I will look some more.

All good thanks Rob.

Yep I'm a bit confused re the amethyst codes. Based on google searches, there actually appears to be three (38A, 83K and F9) for the early 90's.
Also interesting the VIN says my car is a 91 model year as it is registered in NZ as a 90.

Cheers
Carl

From my understanding, F9 was the "commercial" designation of Amethyst, used to order the car. The two other codes were more technical and are the one useful because they indicate which paint formula was actually used for a car.

Don't you have anymore the paint sticker next to the door lock, usually on the driver side?

Came across the following in the WSM supplements tonight- The difference between 38A and 83K is that the latter is a water based metallic paint, vs. 2 stage metallic for 38A. FWIW.

Thank you. Sticker is faded so can't read anymore.
