Hi Axel-

That VIN doesn't show up in the database (besides needing to swap from the letter 'O' to the number '0' in the 3rd position, the rest of the number isn't recognized). Aside from that, there is no paint/color information for anything other than 93-95 U.S. GTSs. Sorry!

Let me know what the correct VIN is and I'll run it.

Yes, I can see it, but it's still wrong. I'd guess it's supposed to be GS840658, in which case it's:

WP0ZZZ92ZGS840658

1986
C00
M28.21
G28.10

I139- Adjustable Seat Heating - Left
I295-Prepared for Telephone, TEKADE B-2 Network - (87-89, Federal Republic of Germany)
I340- Seat heating - Right
I415 Widening of the gauge on the track on the rear axle
I490- Hi-Fi Sound system

If you're asking whether this car:

http://auc.bulldogbros.com/aj-J6NtzhpaVceWfW.htm

was originally yellow from the factory, I highly doubt it. AFAIK yellow was only an option from 1978 to 81, though there is one Speed Yellow GTS in Texas. .

Hi Rob!

Well, I do have a record for WP0ZZZ92ZGS849658...

928 S3 automatic delivered new in Japan, LHD.
M28/44 engine and A28/07 gearbox. No option.

Lemon yellow (L10W) was also available in 1987/1988, but I also doubt this Japanese S3 was originally yellow.

Or they have the year wrong and its an 87 .. which would mean the numbers are correct but the G is wrong.

In which case it would be
VIN: WP0ZZZ92ZHS849658
Motor: M28.42
Transmission: A28.12
C08: Japan
Options:
I139 ... Seat heating left
I340 ... Seat heating right
I454 ... Cruise control
I537 ... Left seat with built in memory and lumbar
I586 ... Lumbar support left seat

No rub strip option, no sunroof option.

I see AT on the Japanese detail sheet which perhaps refers to auto trans??

Knowing whether it's an Auto or Manual will narrow the answer down.

Edit: I see Samuel has the data for that specific VIN.

Hi Samuel- Interesting, didn't know that RE: lemon yellow. But yeah, a black mirror base with a yellow mirror body raises all sorts of flags....

I guess that VIN is one of the ~500 or so that is missing out of the dataset. Glad you have it covered!

I have been following rennlist for quite some time and have just recently joined, but this is the first time posting hopefully I am doing it correctly. I have been searching for a 928 for the past 2 years or so, one is available in my neighboring state and I hope to go look at this Thursday. I have its VIN as WPOJB0921GS862807 just wondering if you can give me some info. on this car? So far I have found this forum to be in depth and very informative, so I thank you for any and all advice. Justin

You're welcome Justin, but you should be thanking Samuel- this is a team sport.

Yes, it should be an 86.5. A peek through the wheel slots should confirm the presence of S4 brakes.
