Hoi, I totally flaked on that, it should be a manual transmission (G28.03,transmission serial # range 11 00001>05000), not an automatic. I'll fix the original post, too.

I912 means they didn't install the weight information that you see in the European market cars (by the hood latch) that makes them eligible for EU registration. You'd therefore think I912 would be present on all US/Canada market cars, but it isn't, it's only on the '84 and '93-95 US models, '84 Australian market cars, and a couple of '91-95 ROW markets- Japan (234 LHD and 33 RHD cars), Australia (60 cars) Saudi Arabia (7 cars) and Arab Gulf States (90 cars).
