Wind chill is a joke.
All you have to do to nullify it is get out of the wind.
Your car will cool off faster in a brisk wind, but won't get any colder than ambient temp no matter what the wind is doing.
I drove across I-80 from near State College PA to the middle of Indiana yesterday. Not real fun, but not too bad. Semi truck, I had about 18 tons in the box to help with traction. The plows kept up ok.
I'm not looking forward to the coming few days. High temps Sunday of -7F, Monday -10F, Tuesday +1F. Lows down to -20F.
Actual temps, not windchills.

Adam, this is why I hate windchill values, at some point people start refering to it as the actual temperature. The problem is that they measure this at the airport at 10m height whete there aren't any buildings to block the wind. At you place, ground level the wind is a lot less so the effect is much less but weathermen love making things sound worse that it is so they all reference windchill numbers. Windchill only effects living things and only if they have exposed skin otherwise its all useless BS.

I'm alive, and almost always, at the very least my face is exposed. In fact, I live a couple of miles from O'Hare.

It's hardly ever feels like as reported. I would rather have it reported as -20C with 15km/h winds than a winchill of -30C. Rob, not that I don't believe the effect of wind, I don't like this windchill values invention. People are walking quoting windchill numbers as actual temperatures. Its not Adam I'm talking about, as he seems to understand the difference but other that don't.

It's 41 c ( 107 f )here. I know Rennlisters are a clever bunch, so can someone work out how we can share? If we can avarage out we can all have a nice day.

Move the clock forward 40 years and this morning it was a "chilly" 20C over here- the 928 was running as well as I have ever experienced it!
Take care in the cold stuff you chaps who are in the middle of it- it is a killer when not respected.

I agree that wind chill and temp are not the same and the latter doesn't matter to a lump of metal. But "wind chill" can make a difference to the human holding that lump.
My wife and I once took a pleasant walk in the snow on a clear morning at -10ºF. As soon as we walked out of the (relatively) still air in the trees and into the stiff breeze, Jan had to get her gold hoop earrings out of her pierced ears because they were painfully freezing the holes.

Rob: It's cold here, but the thought of a 11% state income tax rate makes me shiver more violently. Oh, sorry, I forgot to add the windchill: it's 12.30% today with the windchill. How does any life survive in those conditions?
So far the damage is that we've delayed the ski trip to Vermont by one day because of this. I've skied with the kids at -20F at the base, but it's not pleasant if there's anything wrong with the equipment.

I think we can all agree it has been ****ing cold. Forget windchill and all that. Let's start a new temp reporting method, I propose the following:
-10 = wear a hat you moron
-15 = no steel poll licking
-20 = snot sickles
-25 = yes your ear is purple
-30 = owe my nuts

Skiing in -20F is not my definition of "Fun". Ok as long as you keep moving, but the chair is a killer.

Ok, not sure what your overall Income Tax picture looks like, but if you add in the federal portion and whatever it costs you for decent medical coverage, I bet we're shivering much more on this side of the border. On mountains, chair lifts and summits are cold. Gondolas and slopes are not.
No bunnies skinny skiing like this at -20F, though:
