Default GTS engine FS

I have a GTS (5 speed) engine with 21,000 miles on it sitting on an engine stand with a brand new timing belt, complete with alternator, starter, AC compressor, harness and both ECU's (not shown). PM if any interest. Thanks

do you know which MY it came from? There was a change in rods in mid 1994...& the later engine is more valuable

Considering what it takes to re-do one (I've been working on Erick's) that's a smoke'n deal
Good luck w/ your sale.

Unless the breather routing was changed at some point, it has the 'later' GTS crossover breather hose between the valve covers. This crossover hose is mentioned in the '93 service info, but my "late" '93 (0084, though it was manufactured in 8/92) had an 'early' breather set up without the crossover hose. Not sure if there's a cutoff for this changeover, or whether it coincided with the R1-R2 rod changeover.

Beautiful motor!

Is the 5-speed GTS engine different than the auto version?

The GTS 5 speed motor has the M28/29 designation, while the GTS auto is the M28/48. I believe the cams were different. This engine is from a parted out 94 with 21,000 miles on the odometer. I cleaned it up and put in a new timing belt. I can try to dig out the serial # if someone is really interested.

The GTS engines were designated below, no diff in manufacturing year but I do believe the engine pictured is a newer GTS engine with the cross over valve cover breather:

IIRC engine serial number can be cross-referenced in the tech spec books for a better clue.

Breather and rod change were done at different time. Breather was some time in early '93 MY. Rod change was much later in middle of '94 MY.

Engine numbers were G28/49 for manual and G28/50 for automatic. Cams are exact same in both. Only difference is one more vacuum line connection for automatic gearbox. Since its '94 MY it can have R1 or R2 rods.
