This first picture is the original Lower Insert I made and is the one I will be forming next, but without the clock opening or recess.

The second picture is one of the second 5-speed versions of the Insert, with its original rectangular shifter opening, together with the form that is now revised with a much larger opening. I'll have to make the male part of the form to match the larger opening and then I'll form a couple in that configuration.

I'm still working on this, Rob, for you and Toby, but I am bumping this thread for RFJ who is expressing some current interest.

Hi @ all,

my solution:

I victimized the clock and cut the stock shift frame a lttle bit .
Lots of space to mount an Alpine INE-W710 2Din 7" Nav system just like a normal radio . Glue a small ureol support onto the transmission tunnel . The Alpine device has 3kg weight . The center console plastic is too weak to hold that weight without this backing . Ureol is a rapid prototyping material.
Total working time approx. 3 hours.

Small effort, big result
Best advantage : No more hassles with optical discs

It's been a long time since this thread had any activity, but I don't know a better place to mention this. I bought one of jerry's flush consoles back in 2014, used it in my GT for some years, but later returned the car to stock and sold it.

I have all the console parts separated and ready to go for another owner. Of importance is that my car was a '90, so a two airbag dash. The center console insert has a different corner shape than the earlier dash layout.

I have the parts on ebay now but if someone wants to deal with me through RL directly that's fine too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185593732604

Please let me know if you have any questions!

It looks to me like my design of the flush center Console for the 928 to adapt the Double DIN Nav/stereo/raadiao units is pretty much obsolete. I think the modern Double DIN units are so very shallow that there is no need to flush the center Console.
